The client

Volvo Cars Sweden

My responsibility on this project as DIM concept designer Senior level UX/UI for Volvo Cars Sweden, was to elevate and design different styling modes and concepts for the multitouch sensus centre stack display and Driver instrument modules.

The solution

My design direction was to elevate what was already there and give the whole experience more feel, functionality & form. Adding
a little more Wow factor, through high-end design and always staying aligned with the essence of the Swedish design aesthetic.

Keeping the flow and interaction fluid, elegant and smart, giving the user a real end to end experience, to the point where, while the driver is in his/her Volvo from the moment he/she steps into that lush driver's seat, the driver/user's senses go from ''6'' to Sensus.

The result

Two and a half years of:
    • Learning & understanding
    • Concepts
    • Designs
    • Research, irritations, & improvements
    • Testing - Virtual and In-car
    • After successfully presenting my designs to the Volvo Executive Design Board, my selected work was developed and used in the new Volvo executive models launched in 2018.

      • My designs can still be seen in Volvo's higher-end models on the road today and in some
Volvo advertising. It makes me very proud to have been part of such a groundbreaking project.
This was the start of a shift towards digitisation and innovation within the automotive industry like we had never seen before.

    • Seeing that my designs and concepts are still used and improved upon in 2021 is for me a result of their enduring relevance in functionality and execution.
